Ayana has a big voice filled with passion. Her energy is infectious and on stage she is commanding.
In 2003, Nueva Lutz, the beloved owner of the legendary 55Bar, upon the recommendation of Slappy, the designated west village mayor, invited Ayana to sing. To a packed house Ayana sang songs from the Billie Holiday song book. Singer Barbara Lea said, “Ayana, you brought Billie to life.” This engagement led Ayana to become a 55BAR regular!
During her 55Bar journey she performed and recorded with Dizzy Gillespie’s drummer Charlie Persip, and downtown jazz trumpeter, Ray Campbell Jr., big band leader Howard Williams. James Weidman - pianist, Patrizia Scascitelli - composer.
